In that case, plants and animals are "living things."
Yes they are. Glad you paid attention in science class.
Do you feel that it is wrong to end a flowers life, or a cat?
Well a flower doesn't witness pain like us animals and humans do so I guess that rules that one out. Yes, I do believe it is wrong if you purposely ends a cats life cruelly and unnecessary even though I personally can't stand cats.
Should killing a cat be legal?
No, do you think it should be?
See, the difference is that humans have a soul, and plants and animals do not
Depends on your definition of souls but yes.
Now, I do not believe that the fetus has a soul, and is not fully human until it takes its first breath, which is when it is given a soul. This is based on the Bible.
Oh, so your religious, eh? Well may I have you to know that your Bible condemns such acts. Exodus, Chapter 21 states
"And if men strive together, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart, and yet no harm follow; he shall be surely fined, according as the woman's husband shall lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. 23 But if any harm follow, then thou shalt give life for life, 24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, 25 burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe."
I'm not a Christian I am indeed an Atheist, but I was raised in a Christian family. Believe it or not, it has helped me out greatly to dispute against delusional Christians.
