The drawings you speak of are beautiful and will replace the towers nicely. I don't understand why you would want them the way they were or taller just to piss off the terrorists! No major city needs buildings that big and Manhattan is better looking now that those gargantuan buildings are gone from the skyline. Why taunt people who have no regard for us or our lives? No one made them smaller because we're afraid of these people. They're going to be a grand addition to Manhattan once they're built.

Pyggy...do you think that the BBC, PBS and NPR are corrupt as well? Since we have two of the three here in America, wouldn't it be beneficial to have a third just dealing with unbiased news? I'd pay for that! Don't you think one has to trust someone at sometime and not think everything or everyone is corrupt?

I don't believe there should ever be a limit on the amount of immigrants applying to this country for citizenship. All should be welcome here so long as they abide by the laws of this country and do their best to fit into the mainstream of life here, which includes learning the language. Immigrants built this country and continue to do so as they join the labor forces here.

Immigrants are not our enemies...it's the way they are handled that is. The immigration process should also ensure that the person cannot be deported for anything but illegal activity while their applications are in good standing. The process also needs to be much shorter than it is today. As I've said on other debates about this subject, I know people who have waited 17-18 years for their citizenship to come through. ESL should be mandatory and enlisting your children into the school process should also be mandatory. Checking in every 3-4 months should also be mandatory lest we lose track of people while they move about.

If we were a more welcoming country perhaps we wouldn't have to deal with the high number of illegal immigrants we see on the news and read about in the newspapers!

I cannot toally disagree with you Jess but all that expensive equipment is being paid for with people who have and pay for their services. No, I cannot disagree with your logic but I sure don't like it much when giving up a portion of your money making practice could save many lives in the end as well. I wish life were like "House." ;p

I do think we eat more meat then we should but these last years have found us eating healthier foods in general. With the addition of poultry and fish added to our diets I think we've come a long way from the meat and potato meals many of us grew up with and even our snacks are healthier than ever. I don't think meat equals murder in any way since most meats are raised for human consumption and the supply is never depleted because of this. Meat, in adequate and reasonable amounts, balances our diet and it's not that we couldn't all be vegan's or vegetarians but why not eat the meat that is given to us via the age old system of supply and demand when being either of those doesn't appeal to our personal tastes.

A life is priceless...it has no price tag on it. If a young person is terminally ill, someone in the medical field needs to step up to the plate and lend their expertise to the situation. I so wish we had socialized medicine in this country or something very similar to it. Becoming a doctor is a very costly undertaking but abiding by your oath is something that costs nothing and can help beyond measure in time of need.

I may be Jake but I forgot to say what a slime ball Glenn Beck is too! He invites someone on his show and proceeds to lambaste him with "facts & figures" that make no sense out of context then throws the guy out after he over talked him for 10 minutes. He's just a rude hombre!

Those are the three basics I would have named but the fact still remains there is more than enough room in this country for more people. There are hundreds of thousands of acres of land throughout the states that stand unused because of location. Building helps location become viable and there's more than enough that could be done to accomodate the people who wish to live here.

I don't see the age of 16 being a very good age for anything other than driving with a junior license. I have nothing against 16 year olds, mind you, but I simply do not believe they have the wherewithal needed to make such a viable and heavy decision.

Absolutely not. Letterman is a consummate tongue in cheek comedian and everyone knows this. Even the backwoods Palin's must be aware but it's her golden opportunity to keep a good thing going as she always does when her name is mentioned anywhere. Perhaps the lady doth protest too much? Her reputation and background are hardly as pristine as she would love everyone to believe. Sarah Palin should really back up, back off and try and be the Governor of the great snow covered state of Alaska where she can shoot all the game she can eat or probably wouldn't dare eat. Trophies seem to be her middle name...or was it Pristine?

It's not that easy to become gay but when the choices are slight what does one do? Sex is one thing and having a loving, caring relationship is quite another. I'm surprised studies haven't been done on such things or maybe I simply haven't heard of them but I should think that a loving relationship would be difficult to come by when incarcerated. We are humans and as such we need the touch of another human being to sooth our souls. I can only wonder how the rest of the population who think they're straight take to this type of behavior!

Also, Jake has opened the same type of debate I have and I don't know if there is room for two here since we've never had a psychology section heretofore. Can you help me do what I have to do please because I'm really not understanding what I have to do in order for all to see my debates or have others contribute.

Either one is solely as the discretion of the patient and it so depends on which avenue of approach is best for your type of illness. One of the draws backs of ELS is still the problem with memory, long and short term. Even though ELS is gentler today there still remains the problem of memory.

ECLECTICISM THEORY AND THERAPY is a subject matter I am not familiar with so someone else may have to speak to that until I can bring myself up to speed on the mode, if you will.

I would try and comfort them in any way I could since this is a shocking revelation to the person. I would also advise them to divulge this diagnosis to anyone they've been in sexual contact with for the last 6 months to a year to see if further incidents might be avoided if they could do so. I would be open with them and to them in answering all questions I have the answers to and also advise them to do the research needed so they don't pass this on to others.

I'll take this side since Nichole took the other. I'm not at all certain on-line debate is the thing but she makes some good points. Years ago on every Saturday afternoon, TV had schools debating one another on any variety of topics and they seemed to be well mannered and civil not to mention that everyone allowed each debater to make their point without interruption! That was the best but today, on TV you watch the talking heads speaking over each other, each trying to outdo the other. If it was all like that I wouldn't like it very much and opt into the other side quickly! I liked the Presidential debates and thought they were fairly well handled by the moderators in charge. I thought they were very fairly done.
