No.

Partly because I wasn't raised to. Partly because I see no reason to. And partly because I don't want to.

I don't like the way religious people act, whatsoever. I don't like churches. They idea of worship is obnoxious. The belief that Jesus is suppose to be my role model, sounds like bullshit.

Therefore, if there is a God, he's not worth my time, mind, or energy. I'm a perfectly decent person without religion and God. And best of all, I'm not a hypocrite! Woot!

I'd also like to note that I LOVE book stores. Small ones, Barnes and Nobles especially, Borders, etc. If books cease to exist, will these places go out of business? Then what? Instead of being able to read in a corner of a semi-quiet store that only tempts you to read, we'd have to go elsewhere...typically some loud place, like Starbucks.

What about libraries? When students do research... is EVERY antique book of valuable information going to be on computers instead? That's no fun (thought easier for research), but still.

Actually, I'm pretty confident physical books will NOT dissapear. Because there's still a handful of Americans that will never be able to afford that... computer book thingy... and be able to keep up with it. Unless you're in the middle class and above, getting one fo those things and thinking they're worth it would probably be out of your league. Plus, we'd still probably be expected to pay like $20-200 per e-book, because otherwise, how are the writers going to make any profit? That's a lot of money to spend to shove onto a little computer device that wil eventually break down and you lose all your books! Technology is getting out of hand, seriously. The beauty of a book is once you buy it, it's physically there forever. (Unless in a fire or stolen or something). But it's there more than an e-book ever will be. Plus, part of the perks of books is "page turning," not "down scrolling" or whatever.

Perhaps downvoting should be entirely disabled? Then people can only up vote best arguments, and result in the same thing going on right now (most voted will climb the chart and leave the regular ones where they are instead of strolling to the bottom). But then, I realize the downvoting is the one thing that determines efficiency... so...eh. Perhaps we have to suck it up and accept the idiots that like to push buttons?

I love physical books. I'm sure with technology, they will start to disperse. But like many awesome vintage things, they will still exist and there will be a handful of people collecting and trading them because they'll be worth more money than they are right now.

I WANT physical books to be around forever. I don't particularly like e-books whatsoever. Staring at a computer screen and scrolling down often just sucks. I get so bored I'll start to do something else. The illumination of the computer screen isn't great to be looking at for extended periods of time either. Physical books hold more comfort of being able to go anywhere, being easier on the eyes, and so forth.

However, I CAN see some perks to e-books, if they evolve the software more. Being able to change the font of the book to the style and size of our choice would be a pro. Because I have issues with really big font and really small font. I like really average font (size 10 on computers). And some fonts flow better in our eyes to read. (I particularly like Book Antiqua). Also, if there was a side notepad within the book to bookmark and label easier than in actual books (would be really convenient with textbooks) and having a "find" feature to track it down in seconds. So, e-books can be convenient, mainly for school instead of carrying those huge suckers and they'd probably be a ton more convenient and cheaper than $100! But we still use physical books for a reason.

It can buy you short-term happiness, no doubt. But if you want to count on it buying you long-term happiness, good luck because it ain't going to happen. Being a truly happy person comes from within oneself; no amount of materialism and money in the world can grant you that. But seriously, it'll buy you short-term happiness... such as, a trip to the country of your choice for a week to relax and tour and so on. It'd be nice to have money so I could do that stuff at the very least, but if I started counting on it to make me happy, I'd probably end up using it the wrong way the same way people that drink so much alcohol think it makes them happy. WRONG. It's a mask.

I'm not sure what side to pick because I only agree with one aspect. College is worth the time (if it's spent getting an actual education and not doing idiotic stuff), but not worth the money.... especially if you don't have the money. I'll first hand say it's not worth getting into debt for. I mean, maybe 10k of debt; you can pay that off in about 2 years, but 40k? 60k? 80k? No. When it climbs up that high in order to get a degree in something you want to do, it's pretty ridiculous. I don't think getting the degree will be worth it if you're going to be spending 40 years of your life paying it off. What a waste of future money that could finally be spent traveling or something (on vacations). If you happen to be rich and/or manage to get a full scholarship (or close to it), then you better think your time is worth it, because it least you'd have the opportunity to take the time and low cost out of your own pocket.

No, those statistics are REALLY off. It really is 1 in 4 women who are at LEAST molested. Many are actually sexually abused or assaulted. However, it's also estimated that only 30% of molestation victims admit it or come forward about it. It's unbelievably common in today's society. But anyways, moving on.

1 point

Just so you know, your belief that he's guilty despite the fact he was cleared on TWELVE counts, makes you a pretty blind person, by choice. Also, I couldn't find an exact statistic because there doesn't seem to be any, but I would to point out that approx (in my vague opinion) 1 in 10, to 1 in 5 people molest. Considering the common fact that 1 in 4 ARE, at least, molested (mostly girls). Now, I'm not saying it's something to ignore because it is just SO COMMON, but I'm saying if you want to hate everyone you believe is a molester or sexual assaulter, do be prepared to hate a good hefty portion of society. In fact, I'll bet at least 1 in every 4 celebrities you think is awesome, would actually become a loser, in your opinion, and worth death, because of some "bad" behavior they have.

And P.S. my opinion has some good grounds considering I've been molested 3 times growing up. You'd think I'd hate them ALL as much as you do, but 1) it's nothing personal if the person didn't do anything to you specifically, and 2) I'm still not willing to blind myself about the person just because of some wrong they're capable of, when I don't know them personally. Michael HAD problems, the WHOLE WORLD knows this, and for all I know, he could've seriously molested, OR he could've been seriously taken advantage of because of people like you who would believe all the 'potential' lies.

But bottom line is, being able to convince yourself he's not a musically genius icon just because under the surface, he was a huge mess, is as ignorant as one can get.

His music. Sure he was a little strange..looking... but I never gave a crap what he looked like. His music was awesome and it never got boring.

I think they should "move on" and build something else there. Heck, how about a park!? NY needs more parks! Make it a memorial park. ...but with no headstones...but maybe a wall or dedicated benches, trees, grass... pandas... tigers...etc...haha.. ya get my point.

I thought man already did walk on mars? Or was it just because of that one movie that was living the "dream?"

3 points

Well, if they say what the republican party is saying, then it's "old news" and "old news" is boring. :-) haha.

That was a joke but it might have some truth to it.

I'll say yes for one reason, the average temperature today is about 10 degrees cooler than it was 20 or so years ago. Wet weather has been lasting longer than usual in most places. If you live somewhere where it rains and snows often and all you want to look forward to is sunshine and dry weather for a split moment, then you're getting the lower end of the Global warming stick. But if you live somewhere in a desert where it's known to be 115 by now, we're getting a slight blessing since it's 10 cooler this year. So, yes, I think statistically, we are going through a "global warming" (although I think it's more like a global cooling), but I believe the issue is not that it's hotter than usual (because it's not), but that when it gets hot/warm out, it lasts til like damn November. Really, I'm just noticing longer hot weather and longer winters this past decade. And the longer it's warm out, the longer the ice caps get to melt and la la, so ya, it's true to a degree, but it is blown a little out of proportion by making it sound like we're going to die from it. At least, I don't think WE are going to. Maybe our greatx5 grandkids will though.

2 points

It's pointless, eh? So, have you actually never had a pet? And if so, when it died, you didn't care? How sweet.

3 points

I agree. And ya know what I say to people and get some nasty looks? "Why don't you go ahead and commit some cannibalism now?" I mean, seriously, so we're the highest order of species, why waste already dead human bodies, too, and eat them instead of letting them rot into Earth while there's still millions of people starving? So, it's "immoral" to eat an already dead human for meat, but it's "natural and OK" to brutally kill animals for meat? Whatever. I don't think it has anything to do with morals to not eat a human, but rather because we're mentally trained to think it's disgusting and crass to eat another human, and it's OK to kill and eat animals, PERIOD. Most people are also mentally trained to believe in God and Jesus and church and worship (and on and on and on), but does that mean it's the "Right" thing? Not really.

:-)

America is America because of immigrants, so bring 'em over! But follow the damn laws. It's not that hard.

Also, how come Australia has strict immigration laws? At least, I've heard that if you want to move there, you can't unless it's because of your job or for school or something...

1 point

Well, in reality, it depends how you know the person and how much money you have floating around to save their life. If you don't know the person and have some money floating around to save them, it'd only be as much as is available to not harm you or your family into financial ruins. So, I dunno, 1/4th of their yearly income? 1/6th? Isn't the government going to pay for it anyways?

But really, i don't know how much a human life is worth...I don't really think about it terms of money.

I don't agree with #1 because we had that in my schools and it didn't do crap. If you're learning about sex ed in middle school, everyone is actually a wee bit immature to listen to what they're being told. However, it may have a better benefit in high school. And I do think if parents talked to their children CORRECTLY about sex, they'd be more likely to listen and respect their parents views and wishes more than anything they'll ever learn in school about it. Also, I think girls need to be taught that having sex doesn't make them "cool;" and boys need to be taught that having sex makes them a fool.

Anyhow, finance and keeping abortion options available and the pill available would make a difference too. However, I'd think the population is going to decrease anyway because of the increasing amount of conception problems women are having. It only gets ridiculous when you have a psycho like the "octomom" pushing out 8 kids at once.

Is this guy lost? ....................................................................

2 points

Haha, ya, that's the problem. I haven't decided what exactly that "something else" is yet. Voting is also serious. No one would want idiots on a Jury, but we're allowed to have idiots pick the president (who might turn out to be an idiot himself)? Ugh.

2 points

Ya, that sound pretty logical. There's really nothing more annoying these days than a religious Christian who thinks science is "made up" and worthless.

So, if, religion answers the "why", what answers the "who." I mean, I've heard it over and over in other debates that people either say "God," or they actually don't care. But they care about the other questionable factors and somehow have the mindset to ignore the 'who.' I mean, if they're going to think that way, maybe they shouldn't think about it AT all, no what, where, when, why how.

2 points

Ugh, I'll say yes because I don't think voting restrictions should be based on age. But rather something else. The only thing annoying me about voters is that they're voting in a way where they don't even know who they're voting for. "Oh ya, I voted for Obama." "Why?" "Because I wanted to and he looks cool." Wonderful.

Yes. Because the rest of me is being cremated. May as well put the good parts of me to some use.

I believe this form the most: ECLECTICISM THEORY AND THERAPY.

Because in my opinion, the human psych really is a combination of friggin everything. The things that happened to you in childhood and how they effect you; imitation and adaptation of the parents and family members (but this most definitely is to a smaller degree than what I believe of the psycho-dynamics), and the choice to consciously and at least subconsciously (in the sense you KNOW what you're doing and why, but delusional or distraught about it) choose how one wants to act and behave, but only applies to adulthood and not childhood behavior, nor barely, teenagers.

However, any of the 4 can be "accurate"... depending who they're applied to. The first three I wouldn't say are solely accurate to every given person as much as eclecticism applies to everyone.
