You are dead on there sir!

How about this quote from "Honest Abe"

"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built."

Good thing we don't do "any" of it? We the American tax payers have had forced charity crammed down our throats for generations.

We all need to do a little more research on what the founders of this country thought of the role central government should play in the charitable support of the "weak". NONE!

Now before anyone goes all off there rockers thinking that the founders believed that they should not get help, I ask that you continue to read this post in its entirety.

Nearly all the Founders seemed to have acquired deep convictions that assisting those in need had to be done through means which might be called "calculated" compassion.

1. Do not help the needy completely but rather help them help themselves.

2. Give the poor the satisfaction of earned achievement.

3. Allow the poor to climb the "appreciation ladder" Tents to cabins. Cabins to cottages. Cottages to houses.

4. Where "emergency" help is provided do not prolong it to the point where it becomes habitual.

5. Strictly enforce the scale of "fixed responsibility"

The 1st and foremost level of responsibility is with the individual themselves. Then family, Church, Community, County, and finally in a disaster, the State.

Under NO circumstances should the Federal government to become involved in public welfare. This will corrupt the government as well as the poor.

Power of government in our Constitution wells up from the people to the government not from the government down to the people. We CAN NOT grant the power to the government to do what we have no right to do ourselves...that is, take from one person against their wishes to give to another.

Welfare and progressive taxes may not have been intended to punish the "rich" but it has had that effect none the less.

Even after the heavy tax burden that the wealthy and middle class have carried in this county, we continue to be the most charitable people on the face of the earth.

Absolutely he crossed the line. If he had stood there, to "your" face, and said that about "your" daughter, there would be a fight! I know it would mine.

There is no way to argue against the fact that an incredible double standard is being enforced in mainstream media in favor of the Liberal left.

Wonder what would have happened had he said that about President Barrack "my family is off limits" Obama's daughters?

Who you calling a "geezer" : )~

I was always taught that strategies are written in sand and are temporary....principles are written in stone and are timeless.

I prefer the wisdom of experience through principles than either aged "geezer" cynicism or youthful exuberance.

BTW I don't think that a person should be able to be drafted until he or she is at least 25 or volunteer until they are 21! Give these folks a chance to experience life and form some solid values based on what ever principles they choose to value!

What you think?

Im not sure that 21 year olds are old enough to vote given the rersults of the last election.

I think that there may be a bit too much naivete at those younger ages...I know I was.

Too many of decisions made at that age are based on emotion instead of rational thinking and the world is much too dangerous a place for that.

Just an opinion.

"Government investment"?

Government never has had, and never will have, anything that they dont take from us including money.

They are a completley non-productive entity. Every expenditure of our tax dollars are third party purchaces. They are paying for things they will not use with money they do not own.

BTW I advised my 18 year old to do exactly that! Get a job and save. One summers work gets him one years tuition.
